Embracing the craft of armouring in his mid teens through guided professional mentorship, then going onto establish Ryall Armouries with the support of the Princes Trust (now Kings) back in 2008. Fred is well-known internationally within the field of armour reproduction - with past projects for the Royal Armouries, the Wallace Collection and the Burrell Collection to date.

Fred offers one-on-one residential training in armouring, tailored to the student’s experience / skill set. He regularly collaborates with the global armour-making community, and has hosted several international armourers’ symposiums.

With film credits, documentary features, and many live demonstrations at various sites for Historic Royal Palaces & English Heritage, Fred remains dedicated to preserving and advancing both the craft and study of historical plate armouring.
